Exams and Final Assessments Final Assessments will be held in all subjects during the final exam period of each semester. EXCEPT Courses with Required Provincial exams will not schedule assessments during the exam period. Grade 12 Provincial Exams have a 40% weighting Grade 11 Provincial Exams have a 20% weighting Grade 10 Provincial Exams have a 20% weighting Courses with OPTIONAL Provincials: The course final assessment will be the same for all students, whether they are choosing to write the optional exam or not. The course final assessment will NOT be scheduled during the exam period. Departments will determine the value of final assessments on a course by course basis so there is consistency between teachers in the same course. Course Final Assessments will be weighted as follows: Grade 9 & 10 not more than 20% Grade 11 & 12 not more than 30% Performing Arts Final performances, for the purpose of assessment, will not be scheduled in the 4 school days prior to the exam period or during the exam period. Course final assessments take priority over rehearsal time for these performances. Extracurricular Activities Students will not be excused from class for extracurricular activities in the 4 school days prior to the exam period.
